Domaine Hubert Lamy has quickly gone from under-the-radar to a must-have name in White Burgundy. Founded in the 1970s and now helmed by Olivier Lamy, the estate crafts razor-sharp, terroir-driven Chardonnay that rivals Grand Cru without the Grand Cru price (for now).

Olivier’s winemaking is all about precision and purity. No new oak, no fining or filtration, just native yeasts and older barrels that let the vineyard do the talking. These are tense, mineral-laced wines that deliver clarity, structure, and unmistakable energy.

This 30 hectare vineyard benefits from both large size and high quality, the best combination, and particularly useful in a low-yielding vintages. Lying to the north-east of the village at the top of the slope, on poor soils that are made even more challenging to work by the strong winds that pass but which do help build concentration of fruit, as well as keeping the crop healthy. The price tag for this, as for all of Olivier’s wines is extremely modest, at around half the price of a good Meursault Premier Cru but with all the same refinement, classy barrel ageing and refined fruit character.
