Sourced from 60-year-old vines in an enviable position within the Clos, the Mugneret sisters produce one of the most compelling expressions of Clos de Vougeot in Burgundy today. Explosive aromatics, waves of dark fruit and spice, and a silky Grand Cru concentration that's impossible to put down.

Wine Advocate | 96-98 Points

"Another masterpiece in the making from the Mugneret family is the 2018 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru, a stunning young wine that unwinds in the glass with a youthfully reserved bouquet of cherries, wild berries, exotic spices, peonies, rose petals and sweet soil tones. On the palate, it's full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, with a layered and concentrated core, strikingly refined tannins, lively acids and a long, resonant finish. This is always a Clos Vougeot that nods to nearby Musigny, and that has never been truer than in the 2018 vintage."

Vinous | 96 Points

"The 2018 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has the more complex bouquet of Mugneret’s 2018s, featuring fragrant red berries mixed with dried blood, undergrowth and wilted rose petal, a touch of orange peel emerging with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, very intense black fruit and a little more depth and grip than the Ruchottes at the moment. There is real density to this Clos Vougeot that make it the best from the domaine this year"

The 2018 Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg Clos de Vougeot is the wine of the vintage from this domaine and one of the most compelling expressions of Clos de Vougeot being made in Burgundy today.

The critical consensus is unusually emphatic: 96 points from Vinous, 95 from Burghound, and 98 from Wine Advocate, where William Kelley called it a masterpiece in the making — a Clos de Vougeot that nods to nearby Musigny in its refinement.

Collectors who have opened bottles since release describe explosive aromatics, waves of dark fruit and spice, and a silky Grand Cru concentration that already impresses while promising decades ahead.
