The flagship wine of Musigny's defining producer, from a small, concentrated 2019 vintage praised by multiple top critics for its precision and structure. Already dangerously drinkable for those who dare open one now, with decades of upside for those who wait!

Musigny is one of the Côte de Nuits' most revered Grand Cru vineyards, and Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé has been its defining producer for generations, majority landholder of the site and steward of a legacy stretching back more than 500 years in Chambolle-Musigny.

The Musigny Vieilles Vignes is the domaine's flagship wine, built from old vines on the estate's finest parcels, and it stands as one of the true benchmark collectible wines of Burgundy.

2019 was a small, concentrated harvest across the Côte de Nuits, and the resulting reds combined real intensity with freshness and structure, exactly the balance Burgundy needs for serious long-term aging. This vintage has drawn some of the strongest critical praise of any recent Musigny Vieilles Vignes release, with multiple top critics awarding it exceptional scores and describing it as a wine of remarkable precision, texture and length.

Older vintages of this same bottling, 2015, 2010, 2009, 2005 and 2002 among them, have gone on to command significant premiums on the secondary market as they've matured, and the 2019 carries that same pedigree, great vineyard, benchmark producer, and an outstanding vintage, while still young enough to secure before it follows that same trajectory.

Neal Martin | 98 Points

"The 2019 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru has a wondrous nose, with crushed strawberry, raspberry compote and light vanilla scents. The oak here is supremely well integrated. The palate is medium-bodied and mineral-driven, with fine tannins, great precision and a vivid, animated finish that fans out gloriously. Skillful winemaking is evident here. This coheres magically with time in the glass until you can resist no more! This completely outclasses the Bonnes-Mares."

Decanter| 98 Points

"From mature vines and a majestic site, the completely destemmed fruit - fermented without punching down - gives a complete wine that is seductive even now and should continues to astonish with age. Layered and complex, the initial impression is of opulent black cherry fruit, liquorice and rose petals. On the palate, the wine is surprisingly fresh and firm, yet also shows an immediately appealing, voluptuous texture. This tightly packed wine will likely benefit from as much age as you can stand to give it."

"This too is quite aromatically restrained though aggressive swirling does eventually coax the pure and elegant aromas to emerge and when they do, they are almost a hypothetical blend of the Amoureuses and the Bonnes Mares. The concentrated, powerful and decidedly muscular flavors retain plenty of refinement and minerality that conclude in a wonderfully complex and superbly long finale. The mid-palate texture is akin to rolling rocks around in the mouth and the finish just goes on and on. This too is brilliant, and the word Zen definitely comes to mind."
