The 2017 Domaine Emmanuel Rouget Echézeaux Grand Cru is a striking expression of old-vine Grand Cru Burgundy. Drawn from tiny parcels in Les Cruots and Les Treux with vines nearing 70 years of age, the wine delivers remarkable depth and silky concentration while maintaining the lifted aromatics and precision that define great Echézeaux.

The 2017 Emmanuel Rouget Echézeaux Grand Cru comes from one of Burgundy’s most revered modern domaines and carries a direct connection to the legendary Henri Jayer, widely considered the most influential winemakers in Burgundy history. Emmanuel Rouget, Jayer’s nephew and protégé, took over many of the family vineyards and has continued the philosophy that made Jayer a legend.

The vineyard’s easterly exposure helps preserve freshness and aromatic lift, while the classic clay-limestone soils provide the depth, structure, and mineral backbone that define great Grand Cru Burgundy.

70+ year old vines naturally limit yields, concentrating flavor and bringing remarkable complexity and texture to the finished wine.

The 2017 vintage is especially compelling for lovers of classic red Burgundy, combining the charm and accessibility of the vintage with the precision and refinement. "Three plots, two vinifications, one wine assembled after pressing. One cuvée has Cruots and the top of Treux, the other consists of adjacent 90 year old vines in Les Treux and Clos St Denis. Five barrels are then taken out for the Georges Jayer label. Fine purple with dense centre, high class oak and fruit on the nose. Structure followed by finesse yet with an explosion of little red fruits in between.""

"The 2017 Echézeaux Grand Cru, matured in 100% new oak, has a very perfumed and floral bouquet of shimmering black cherry and cassis fruit infused with iris and peony. The harmonious palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, beautifully pitched acidity and a silky-smooth, precise finish. One of the best Echézeaux that I have found in barrel this vintage."
