The 2015 Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Rouge is a 100-point Northern Rhône Syrah blended from legendary Hermitage parcels. One of the standout Rhône vintages of the decade, 2015 delivered both richness and balance, captured here with remarkable depth, precision, and structure. A monumental Hermitage built to evolve for decades.

Jean-Louis Chave is a name spoken with reverence in the Rhône Valley. For over 500 years, the Chave family has cultivated the fabled slopes of Hermitage, producing reds that rank among the world’s most legendary wines.

Their Hermitage Rouge is the benchmark - a meticulous blend of parcels from the hill’s greatest sites, including Les Bessards, Le Méal, and L’Hermite, each contributing power, perfume, precision, and some of the most age-worthy in France.

The 2015 vintage is already considered one of the greats of the decade: a warm, sun-filled year that delivered both richness and balance.

In the glass, it’s a monumental wine! layered with blackberry, cassis, violets, smoked meats, graphite, and spice. Dense yet seamless, with velvety tannins and a finish that resonates for minutes, this is Hermitage in its most complete form.

Simply put, no cellar is complete without a Chave Hermitage. The 2015 will reward decades of patience, but its brilliance is evident even now.

✨ Legendary producer. Iconic vineyard. A Rhône masterpiece.🏆

Wine Advocate | 100 Points

"As good as Hermitage can get, the 2015 Hermitage from Jean-Louis Chave reminds me of a hypothetical mix of the 2010 and 1990 with its incredible purity, finesse, and elegant paired with awesome depth and structure. This heavenly wine exhibits a deep purple color as well as a powerful bouquet of crème de cassis, blackberries, dried violets, graphite, and crushed rocks, with a liquid mineral component that’s just about impossible to find outside of the Bessards lieu-dit in Hermitage. Full-bodied and massively concentrated on the palate, yet with laser-like precision and clarity, it needs a solid decade of cellaring and will keep for 40+ years or more. It’s not as sexy or overt as the Cuvee Cathelin, but is every bit as good. Drink 2028-2068."
