The 2009 Le Pin is one of Bordeaux's ultimate unicorn wines, produced in microscopic quantities from a tiny gravel-and-sand vineyard in Pomerol. This legendary 100% Merlot is one of only three Le Pin vintages ever awarded a perfect 100-point score by Robert Parker, who described it as "the greatest Le Pin I have tasted." Offered in its original wood case, it ranks among the most collectible cases of Bordeaux available in the United States.

Robert Parker | 100 Points

"Exceptional purity and a blockbuster nose of mocha, black cherry liqueur, mulberries and plums are followed by an extravagantly rich wine that seems to have a nearly endless finish. Truly haute couture of Merlot, so to speak, this wine has a finish that goes well past a minute, with wonderfully sweet tannins and a provocative, concentrated, broad mouthfeel that is remarkably luxurious. This is amazing stuff! It should drink well for 20-25 years. This is undeniably the greatest Le Pin I have tasted at such an infantile age. There are about 500 cases of this wine, which is made by the Thienpont family, the owners of Vieux Chateau Certan. One hundred percent Merlot, it continues to possess the exoticism of previous vintages, but the oak at present is far better crafted and integrated than in the debut vintage of 1979. "

James Suckling | 100 Points

"Very rich and lush, but also extremely refined, this has a lightness of touch that some top Pomerols of the vintage lack. That has a lot to do with the stunningly fine tannins that glide through the long super-fine finish. Better than ever. Drink or hold"

Le Pin is Bordeaux’s rarest treasure - produced from a tiny 2.7-hectare vineyard in Pomerol that yields only ~500 cases per year (compared to 2,500–3,000 at Petrus).

Celebrated for its silky, exotic style and 100% Merlot purity, it’s one of the most sought-after wines on the planet, with collectors chasing every bottle. What sets Le Pin apart from many within Pomerol is that the vines are planted to gravel and sand, rather than clay. This generates a singular aromatic profile, but also elevates the palate and gives an ethereal lift to the wine.

Robert Parker has awarded Le Pin 100 points only three times: 1982, 2009, and 2010. He hailed this 2009 as “undeniably the greatest Le Pin I have tasted… in the style of the 1982.”

This original 3-pack OWC is the only one available in the U.S. - a unicorn opportunity to own one of Bordeaux’s most mythical wines from one of its rarest 100-point vintages.

Every step of the journey is managed with one goal in mind: protecting the integrity of each bottle from our cellar to your doorstep.
