A Grand Cru monopole from one of Burgundy's most celebrated recent vintages. Intense, powerful, and built for a long life in the cellar, this is Clos de Tart with the volume turned all the way up! Offered in rare 6-pack original wood case.

Clos de Tart is one of Burgundy's rare Grand Cru monopoles, a single walled vineyard in Morey-Saint-Denis that has been owned and farmed by one domaine for centuries.

That complete control, from pruning through fermentation, gives the wine a consistency few other Grand Crus can claim, since there's no fragmentation across multiple growers with different philosophies.

Quality rose sharply under Sylvain Pitiot, who took over the estate in the 1990s and reshaped it through lower yields and meticulous vineyard work, years many collectors consider the high point of the domaine's modern era.

The 2009 comes from one of Burgundy's most celebrated recent vintages, a warm, generous year that produced wines with unusual richness and immediate appeal. At Clos de Tart, that ripeness shows through as an exceptionally intense, powerful wine. Critic Antonio Galloni noted that Clos de Tart made one of the most massive, powerful wines of the entire 2009 vintage.

Pitiot himself believed the vintage would need real time in the cellar to fully resolve, and now well over 15 years from harvest, it's settling into that long-anticipated window, showing serious depth and structure with real staying power still ahead.

Wine Advocate | 97 Points

"Tasted at the pre-dinner vertical to mark Sylvain Pitiot's retirement from the domaine, the 2009 Clos de Tart Grand Cru has a more intense bouquet than the 2010, although it does not possess the same otherworldly sense of nuance and complexity. Yet it blossoms in the glass, attaining more and more precision, and redcurrant and cranberry scents appear mixed with rose petal and bergamot. The palate is medium-bodied with lovely balance and poise; the tannins are perhaps a little firmer and grippier than the 2010 with a symmetry on the finish that is beguiling. It actually becomes more like the 2010 on the finish so that the two wines end up more similar than you would expect, given the growing season. It is a sublime expression of the vintage."
