2014 Rouseau Clos de la Roche is a beautiful example of the domaine’s signature stunning finesse and purity of fruit. From one of the Grand Cru’s most prized sections, Wine Advocate called it “one of the best Clos de la Roche” bottlings from Rousseau in recent years.

Wine Advocate | 94-96 Points

"The 2014 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru has a fragrant bouquet, coquettish at first, then opening with wet limestone, Morello and cassis scents; it is very defined and focused though not powerful. The palate is silky smooth on the entry, beautifully poised with pure red cherries infused with orange sorbet and captivating mineralilé on the finish. This is one of the best Clos de la Roche that I have tasted from Rousseau in recent years."

Few names in Burgundy carry the weight of Domaine Armand Rousseau. Based in Gevrey-Chambertin, the domaine is regarded as one of the most consistent and uncompromising producers in the Côte de Nuits, with a style built on restraint, balance, and longevity rather than power.

Rousseau’s holdings in Clos de la Roche sit in one of the Grand Cru’s most prized sections, producing wines known for finesse, mineral tension, and aromatic precision—a natural fit for the domaine’s understated philosophy.

The 2014 vintage plays directly to Rousseau’s strengths. According to Wine Advocate, this is “one of the best Clos de la Roche that I have tasted from Rousseau in recent years.” The wine shows a fragrant, lifted bouquet - wet limestone, Morello cherry, and cassis - followed by a silky, poised palate of pure red fruit, subtle citrus lift, and a long, mineral-driven finish.

This is not a wine about brute force. Instead, it delivers clarity, elegance, and site transparency, with the structure to age gracefully while already showing remarkable harmony.
