Robert Parker | 100 Points

"As with the other two single-parcel Cote Roties, the 2010 Cote Rotie La Landonne is pure perfection in a glass. An incredibly massive, muscular, full-bodied effort, it has an insane amount of structure to go with an equal amount of concentrated fruit. Cassis, smoked bacon, coffee bean, cracked pepper and liquid rock-like qualities are all present here, and it hits the palate with a chiseled, focused textured, building tannin and terrific length. It’s the most backward of the 2010s and will require a decade of cellaring, but will keep for about as long as you’d like to hold onto bottles."

Guigal’s La Landonne is the most powerful expression of Côte-Rôtie - a towering, muscular Syrah grown on the steepest, rockiest slopes of the Côte Brune, where the incline hits up to 45 degrees. First bottled in 1978 to honor the birth of Philippe Guigal, the vineyard took nearly a decade to assemble - a 2-hectare patchwork of granite, iron oxide, and ancient schist soils that now produces one of the Rhône’s most iconic wines.

The 2010 vintage is among the greatest ever made from this vineyard - a brooding, monumental La Landonne built for the ages. Wine Advocate awarded it a perfect 100 points, calling it “an incredibly massive, muscular, full-bodied effort” with layers of cassis, smoked bacon, cracked pepper, coffee bean, and liquid rock. With 42 months in new French oak and incredible structure, this wine is the most backward of the La Las and is just beginning to enter its long drinking window.

This listing is for a 6-pack in original wood case (OWC) with perfect provenance. Two bottles show minor label scuffs (see photo), but all bottles are pristine in fill and integrity. A rare collector’s set of one of the most age worthy Syrahs ever crafted.
