Produced from a tiny 0.42 hectare parcel bordering Mazis-Chambertin, the 2016 Les Corbeaux Vieilles Vignes comes from vines dating largely to the 1920s and yields only a handful of barrels each vintage. The clay-heavy soils and old vines give the wine impressive depth and structure, while the cooling influence of the Combe de Lavaux preserves freshness and lift.

Wine Advocate | 92-94 Points

"The 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux has a very different aromatic profile than the Les Evocelles: this is more masculine and introspective, yet still very complex. The palate is medium-bodied with filigree tannin, perfectly judged acidity, understated and elegant with a cheeky touch of cassis popping up on the finish. Divine, but it will require a few years in bottle."

John Gilman | 93 Points

"Les Corbeaux can often be one of the more structured premier crus in Gevrey-Chambertin in its youth, and I often find that this terroir really does well in vintages with such inherent elegance as is found in 2016. This is going to be a terrific wine, as the bouquet jumps from the glass in a very classy blend of black cherries, cassis, black plums, bitter chocolate, woodsmoke, grilled meats, black minerality and new oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and soil-driven in personality, with a sappy core of black fruit, ripe, seamless tannins and a very long, pure and complex finish. Great Corbeaux in the making."

Domaine Denis Bachelet has earned a near-mythical reputation among Burgundy collectors for microscopic production, obsessive vineyard work, and a traditional hands-off philosophy that prioritizes purity and terroir transparency over flashy winemaking.

The 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Corbeaux Vieilles Vignes is a perfect example of why the domaine has become one of Burgundy’s most quietly revered cult producers.

The wine comes from a tiny 0.42 hectare parcel bordering Mazis-Chambertin, with many vines dating back to the 1920s and yielding only a handful of barrels each vintage.

Positioned near the cooling Combe de Lavaux, Les Corbeaux retains freshness and aromatic lift even in warmer years, while the clay-heavy soils and ancient vines give the wine impressive structure, depth, and old-vine intensity.

Despite its concentration and power, the wine never feels heavy instead delivering the balance, finesse, and layered complexity that define truly great Burgundy.
