Often overlooked beside the estate’s legendary red, the 2009 Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc is a benchmark dry white Bordeaux that Robert Parker called “possibly the best dry white the estate has produced.” A blend of 90% Sauvignon Blanc with small amounts of Sémillon and Sauvignon Gris, it layers mango, citrus, honey, spice, and minerality into a wine that is both rich and incredibly vibrant.

If you love Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc, consider this your invitation to discover Bordeaux Blanc. Dry, complex, and endlessly versatile, it’s the hidden gem that wine lovers can’t get enough of (even if it’s still flying under the radar).

This 2009 Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc is a blend of 90% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Sémillon, and 5% Sauvignon Gris, making it a stunning example of what white Bordeaux can offer.

The wine starts off straightforward, but don’t be fooled—it quickly fills out, becoming rich, powerful, and packed with flavor. Expect waves of mango, apricot, and candied pineapple, balanced by sweet spice and a hint of gunflint. The long, savory finish will leave you coming back for more.

This bottle loves food. Pair it with oysters, mussels, asparagus, or herby sauces, and watch the magic happen. Whether you’re planning a seafood feast or a cozy night in, this wine is up for the challenge.

Robert Parker | 98 Points

"Smith-Haut-Lafitte hit a home run with their red Pessac-Leognan and came very close to perfection with their dry white Graves. Possibly the best dry white the estate has produced since the proprietors, the Cathiards, acquired the property in 1990, this wine exhibits a sensational fragrance of buttered citrus, honeyed melons and a touch of grapefruit, lemon zest and orange rind. It also displays grapefruit on the attack and mid-palate as well as real opulence, terrific acidity and length. Drink it over the next 15-20 years. Astonishing! "
